Terms of use
Text proposed by SOE, being reviewed by its legal adviser.
These terms of use govern access to the solutionofeducation.com website, the SOE web application and the SOE mobile application (together, “the platform”). By creating an account, you confirm that you have read and accepted them.
1. Publisher and purpose
The SOE (Solution of Education) platform is published by Family Group SARL, a limited liability company under Cameroonian law with a share capital of 500,000 FCFA, whose registered office is in Yaoundé, Bibong-Bidoum, Simbock (hereinafter “SOE”).
SOE organises home tutoring throughout Cameroon: it receives families’ needs, issues a quote, chooses a tutor it has recruited and checked, supervises the sessions and handles invoicing and follow-up.
These terms apply to every user. Sessions ordered by a family are also governed by the terms of sale.
2. Definitions
- Parent: the adult — father, mother or legal guardian — who creates an account for one or more children and signs the contract with SOE.
- Co-parent: the person invited by the parent to follow a child’s tutoring, with the rights the parent grants them.
- Tutor: the teacher or student recruited by SOE to give sessions at home.
- Session: a lesson given at the pupil’s home, on the date and at the time of the schedule.
- Session report: the report the tutor writes and signs after each session.
- Advisor: the SOE team member who follows a family’s request.
3. Access and accounts
The platform is open to parents and tutors living in Cameroon. Sign-up is reserved for adults; pupils do not have an account, they are registered by their parent.
You agree to provide accurate information (identity, phone, address) and to keep it up to date. One account can hold both the parent and the tutor role.
Your credentials are personal. You are responsible for keeping them confidential and for any action taken from your account. Tell SOE without delay of any fraudulent use. After several failed sign-in attempts, access is temporarily blocked for security.
4. SOE’s role
SOE is not a directory: the parent does not pick a tutor from a catalogue. The advisor chooses the tutor according to the level, the subject, the neighbourhood and the stated preferences, then introduces them to the family.
Before any assignment, SOE checks the tutor’s identity document and diplomas, holds an interview and gives a level test. The tutor signs SOE’s charter and code of conduct.
SOE is the family’s only contracting party: the parent signs their contract with SOE, pays SOE, and SOE pays the tutor.
5. Parents and co-parents
The parent describes their children’s needs, answers the quote, signs the contract, pays the invoices and approves or disputes the session reports.
The parent can invite a co-parent by e-mail. The co-parent follows the tutoring and, if the parent allows it, approves session reports. They do not answer the quote, pay or cancel a session. The parent can withdraw the invitation at any time.
The parent remains responsible for supervising their child during the session and makes sure they can be reached.
6. Tutors
The tutor works as an independent service provider and is not an SOE employee. For each pupil and each subject, SOE entrusts them with an assignment through a signed assignment letter, which sets their pay per session.
To be activated, the tutor completes their file, provides genuine documents, passes the interview and the level test, then signs the charter. A false or forged document leads to refusal or deactivation of the account.
SOE pays the tutor for each session whose report is approved, by Mobile Money or bank transfer, to the payout account they have provided. The tutor never receives a direct payment from a family and gives no private lessons, outside SOE, to the families SOE has entrusted to them.
The tutor checks in on arrival and checks out on departure, then writes the session report within 24 hours of the session.
7. Code of conduct
Every user agrees to:
- respect other users, children and the SOE team, with no violence, harassment, discriminatory remarks or inappropriate behaviour;
- not bypass SOE to arrange or pay for sessions outside the platform;
- not use contact details obtained on the platform for any purpose other than the sessions;
- not post false, abusive or unlawful content, in particular in reviews, session reports and reports;
- not try to access other people’s data or disrupt the platform.
8. Check-in and session reports
The tutor checks in with their phone’s location, within 150 metres of the lessons address. The position is only recorded at check-in and check-out. If location is unavailable, the parent gives the tutor a 4-digit code.
After each session, the report states the times, the topics covered, the homework and observations. The parent approves or disputes it, giving a reason; without an answer within 72 hours, it is approved automatically. If it is disputed, SOE decides after review.
9. Reviews
After 4 approved sessions with a tutor, the parent can leave them a review, rated from 1 to 5 with a comment. One review per tutor, which can be edited.
Reviews are visible to SOE and to the families the tutor is introduced to. The author’s name is never shown: only the neighbourhood, class and month appear. SOE can hide a review that breaches these terms.
10. Reports
A parent or a tutor can report a problem from their space: lateness, absence, behaviour, safety, etc. They can attach photos, which only SOE sees. The report goes to SOE; it is never passed on to the other party.
Serious situations (a child’s safety, an incident at the home, harassment) have a dedicated channel and an emergency number. As soon as a parent reports a serious matter about a tutor, the tutor is put on hold: their upcoming sessions are suspended until SOE’s decision, which may lift the measure, give a warning or deactivate the account.
SOE answers the author when each report is closed. An abusive or false report may lead to the suspension of its author’s account.
11. Personal data
SOE processes the data needed for the service: identity, contact details, children’s school information, tutors’ documents, signatures, check-in positions, payments. The details of the data, its purposes, retention periods and your rights are set out in the privacy policy.
The family’s exact address and phone number are only shared with the tutor once the contract is signed. SOE never knows your Mobile Money PIN.
12. Intellectual property
The SOE brand, logo, texts, visuals and the platform’s software belong to Family Group SARL or its partners. Any reproduction without written permission is prohibited.
The content you post (session reports, reviews, messages) remains yours; you allow SOE to use it to run the service.
13. Liability
SOE undertakes to use reasonable means to select competent tutors, organise the sessions and keep the platform available. It does not guarantee school results (marks, exams), which also depend on the pupil’s work.
The platform may be temporarily unavailable for maintenance or because of a technical incident, the mobile network or a payment provider. SOE is not liable for damage resulting from use that does not comply with these terms or from inaccurate information provided by the user.
14. Suspension and deletion of the account
If these terms are breached, SOE may suspend or deactivate an account, after hearing the user except in an emergency involving a child’s safety.
You can delete your account at any time from the Security section of your account, unless a contract is running, an invoice is unpaid or a dispute is not settled; in that case, contact your advisor. Your personal data is then erased or anonymised; contracts, invoices and session reports are kept for the period required by law.
15. Changes
SOE may update these terms. You are told of any significant change by e-mail or notification before it takes effect. The applicable version and its date appear at the top of this page.
16. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by Cameroonian law. If a problem arises, contact SOE first at [email protected] or on +237 6 75 94 23 44: we look for an amicable solution. Failing that, the dispute is brought before the competent courts of Yaoundé, subject to the rules protecting consumers.
